The Loyola property is located on two-hundred-thirty-five acres of rolling woodland about an hour south of Washington, D.C.; the seventy-bedroom retreat house perched
on a high bluff overlooking the Potomac River. Founded in 1958, the mission of this Jesuit retreat house is rooted in the timeless wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola and his
Spiritual Exercises. But Loyola also offers other paths for women and men, as individuals and as members of church, school and other groups, to deepen and develop
their relationship with God.
A Community Committed to Ministry
Loyola on the Potomac thrives because of its dedicated staff, volunteers, board members, and ministry partners who embody hospitality, compassion, and excellence.
The retreat house’s leadership team includes spiritual directors, development professionals, and support staff who share a unified commitment to the ministry.
This collaborative spirit extends into the wider Jesuit network. Loyola on the Potomac is part of the USA East Province of the Society of Jesus, reflecting a broader mission of
service, spirituality, and justice.
A Leadership Calling Rooted in Purpose
