The Maryland Catholic Conference has an immediate opening for the position of Executive Director.
The qualified candidate will represent the Catholic Bishops of Maryland primarily on public policy issues affecting the common good under consideration by the Maryland General Assembly. The mission of the Conference is rooted in the Church’s recognition of the dignity of the human person and service to the most vulnerable of society. Responsibilities will include supporting the Conference’s Board of Governors and Administrative Board, directing the Conference’s board-approved legislative agenda and grassroots advocacy efforts, hiring and overseeing Conference staff, and developing and implementing the Conference’s budget.
The successful applicant will have knowledge of and a commitment to the principles of Catholic social teaching; knowledge of the legislative lawmaking process; strong research and analysis skills; excellent interpersonal, written and oral skills; and a demonstrated ability to manage bipartisan relationships. A Master’s Degree or equivalent and experience in public policy, lobbying or other related field is preferred.
