Development Manager Job Description

CPMC Mission Statement:

Grounded in the Gospel mandate and Catholic Social Teaching, the Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition (CPMC) promotes ministry to all people affected by incarceration and detention. Our goal is to recruit, train, support and empower those called to this ministry. We strive to create a more just and merciful criminal justice system that upholds the dignity of every human person and advances restorative justice.

Position Responsibilities:

Foundations (70%)

● Manage and grow a portfolio of foundation prospects, maintaining and strengthening

relationships with current and prospective funders

● Research foundation prospects and new grant possibilities● Develop grant proposals in collaboration with CPMC and foundation staff

● Prepare and submit grant reports

● Manage grant tracking system

Annual Fund (15%)

● Create and manage all annual giving appeals including the Bishops’ Appeal through

direct mail, email, social media, crowdfunding campaigns, and events

● Cultivate and steward annual giving donors

● Build the Matthew 25 monthly donor circle through appeals and stewardship

communications

Development Operations (15%)

● Manage donor database (CRM) including gift entry, acknowledgements, and prospect

tracking

● Maintain donation webpages

● Manage regular day-to-day donor communications

● Research organizations, religious orders, dioceses, and individuals who have the interest

and capacity to make significant gifts

● Develop and maintain department SOPs

Supervision:

The Development Manager is supervised by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in a related field preferred

3-5 years of experience in nonprofit development recommended

Strong written and oral communication skills

Experience with donor databases (Little Green Light), website management, and social

media preferred.

Excellent organizational and management skills, and ability to develop and implement

goals

Desire to work within the framework of the Catholic Church to promote the dignity of all

people, especially those affected by incarceration/detention

Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
