Holy Trinity Catholic Church, a Jesuit parish in Georgetown, Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced leader, deeply grounded in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola and in Ignatian spirituality, to manage, in collaboration with a theologian, all aspects of its Ignatian training programs that form spiritual directors and ‘givers’ of the Spiritual Exercises (the one-semester Explore and Discern program, the three-year Ignatian Training Program to become a Spiritual Director, and the three-year Faber Program to Direct the Spiritual Exercises).
Holy Trinity’s vibrant and highly-regarded Ignatian Training programs are a response to the increasing desire for spiritual direction expressed by our parishioners and neighbors. By training spiritual directors and givers of the Exercises, we are building capacity for the laity to answer this deep hunger for spiritual accompaniment. Our training programs are rigorous and provide a profound depth of formation for this ministry. This position provides the opportunity for the incumbent to continue unfolding their gifts and grow closer to God.
The director also directs the parish’s spiritual direction and Spiritual Exercises ministry, supervising an ecumenical team of spiritual directors. The individual will participate as a member of the Ignatian Retreat Team and, when needed, serve as a retreat director for the retreats in daily life.
The successful candidate will be a practicing Roman Catholic with an appropriate graduate degree, formal training as a spiritual director and giver of the Exercises, and at least 5 years of experience as a practitioner of these ministries. If not already a supervisor of spiritual directors, the person will be ready to begin training to become one. The person will have experience facilitating guided prayer in groups, retreats, and giving presentations on the Spiritual Exercises. The position offers compensation in the range of $70-$80 thousand a year and includes health care and other benefits. Holy Trinity values diversity and welcomes all candidates who meet these requirements.
How to apply: Qualified candidates should email a cover letter and résumé to: Thomas Favret, Managing Director, at [email protected]. Applications will be accepted until February 7th. Please include the position title in the subject line.
