Explore faith and social action with Xavier University’s Institute for Spirituality and Social Justice (ISSJ). Drawing upon resources from the world’s religious traditions (especially the Catholic/Ignatian tradition), the ISSJ seeks to foster personal and social renewal, a deeper theological imagination, and effective action for the creation of a more just and ecologically sustainable world.

Our graduate theology program prepares students for vocations and career options such as teaching, chaplaincy, pastoral ministry (including youth ministry), nonprofit work, social change work, and more. Students can also enroll to prepare for doctoral studies or to simply deepen their personal theological and spiritual growth.

Both in-person and synchronous online options are available. Most classes meet on weekday evenings in the spring and fall semesters, with a variety of formats in the summer.
