Catholic Charities Hawai‘i (CCH) seeks applications and nominations for the position of President and CEO.


Catholic Charities Hawai‘i (CCH), rooted in the gospel of Jesus, exists to carry out the social mission of the Church by serving the people of Hawai‘i, regardless of their faith or culture. With a $28-million operating budget, a $13-million endowment, and over 250 full-time employees, CCH serves over 40,000 people across the five islands in Hawai‘i. Serving Hawai‘i since 1947, CCH provides a wide variety of programs and services for children, families, and seniors. CCH provides mental health and counseling services, domestic violence services, and supportive services to veterans. CCH offers senior services that include in-home and community-based services, transportation assistance, and case management for elders and caregivers. CCH helps immigrants transition to a new life in America. Finally, CCH provides individuals and families affordable housing (CCH has over 180 units with 300 units in development). The President and CEO reports to the Board of Directors (Board) and maintains a close working relationship with the Bishop of Honolulu. The CEO is responsible for the oversight of the Catholic Charities Housing Development Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of CCH.

The President and CEO leads the agency to carry out its mission, vision, values and strategic plan. The President and CEO provides overall leadership, direction, coordination, and evaluation of the whole agency, and serves as the face of CCH with donors, the public, policymakers, and other stakeholders. The President and CEO’s overarching focus is to position CCH to help individuals and families to achieve dignity and self-sufficiency. The President and CEO provides strategic leadership by working with the Board and key management personnel to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies and to develop a strong, in-depth financial foundation for the agency. The President and CEO also represents the agency to the community, including building strong relationships with key stakeholders in support of fund development activities.

The President and CEO must demonstrate an active commitment to Catholic Charities Hawai‘i’s Mission and strive to incorporate the four Core Values in all aspects of daily work. The President and CEO must be aligned to the values of Catholic Charities USA and Catholic Charities Hawai‘i and act in a manner consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. A Catholic in good standing is preferred.

The Board will consider individuals for the President and CEO position from Hawai‘i and the Mainland who embrace CCH’s mission and identity and reflect a community-minded orientation, project thoughtful leadership, exhibit entrepreneurial agility, offer a demonstrated track record diversifying revenue, and possesses an ability to inspire staff and to manage a complex enterprise.
