Executive Vice President, Chief Mission Integration Officer
POSITION PURPOSE
The Executive Vice President, Chief Mission Integration Officer provides leadership in preserving and nurturing the Mission, Core Values and Catholic identity of Trinity Health in all its settings. Provides executive leadership, direction, guidance, and consultation for integration of Mission, Core Values and Catholic identity into the strategic plan, structures, and operations of the organization. Oversees, encourages, and ensures the successful implementation, assessment, and maturation of Mission Integration Essential Services across all Trinity Health entities. In doing so, promotes formation, ethics, spiritual care and colleague care services, and a culture of discernment. Leads the Mission Integration Forum and the Mission Executive Council and directs and evaluates the effectiveness of members of the Council and by extension the Mission Leaders across the enterprise. Serves as a member of Trinity Health’s Executive Leadership Team and supports the work of Catholic Health Ministries, the public juridic person for Trinity Health.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the philosophy, mission, vision, and values of Trinity Health in leadership behaviors, practices, and decisions.
Provides leadership and consultation for the development of a common understanding of the meaning and application of Trinity Health’s mission, core values, and Catholic identity as well as their acceptance and integration throughout the organization. Supports cultural development and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives by participating in designing strategies in these areas.
Provides leadership and consultation to the identification, development, and assessment of standards for mission services and facilitates their integration into the policies, practices, and procedures of Trinity Health and its entities; includes facilitating the development of a mission discernment process. Provides leadership and consultation to the development of processes designed to establish and assign accountability for meeting the mission standards within Trinity Health and its operating entities.
Serves as a member of Trinity Health’s Executive Leadership Team, participating in system-wide strategy development, planning and decision-making, leading selected system-wide initiatives and providing communication and support to the Trinity Health Board and appropriate committees as assigned.
Provides counsel and advice to the President and Chief Executive Officer particularly in area such as Church relations.
Responsible for support of Catholic Health Ministries and formation of its members. Provides on-going relationship with the founding religious communities.
Maintains an effective working relationship with all members of the Executive Leadership Team and as needed, the members of the Ministry Leadership Council.
Provides leadership, guidance, and direction through the Mission Integration structure to mission and spiritual care colleagues across the operating entities. Provides consultation and support for mission-related matters to regional and local operational leaders as needed. Assesses the adequacy of local mission resources needed to meet current and identified future needs and participates actively in the selection and assessment of mission personnel.
Provides support to Trinity Health’s involvement at the national level in social and political issues related to Catholic health care. In doing so, provides support to the development of activities that strengthen Catholic health care advocacy and address the issues of ethics, care for the poor, social justice, social accountability and the like.
Supports Trinity Health on national and local church issues related to Catholic health care. In doing so, establishes a network and maintains relationships with colleagues in other Catholic organizations.
Supports local operating entities in their relationships with Catholic church.
Ensures an effective participative management climate with a special emphasis on the selection and development of committed, culturally diverse leaders and on nurturing a discerning culture.
Understands and promotes continuous quality improvement through process redesign and re-engineering, leading key teams as appropriate, to enhance the quality and delivery of service. Models behaviors that support continuous learning and empowerment through team leadership.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a member of the Catholic faith.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of the Catholic theological tradition and its social and medical moral teachings as well as an ability to communicate those teachings in a manner that is easily understood. A Master’s degree in theology, religious studies, mission leadership, ethics, or equivalent is required. A Doctoral degree in one of these areas is preferred.
Must possess an appreciation for the founding congregations, their heritage, and their spiritualities.
Must possess a contemporary knowledge of health care delivery systems and ethical issues facing the field.
Progressively responsible experience in mission effectiveness within a health care setting is preferred.
Must possess highly effective communications skills with the ability to relate effectively with internal and external constituents and must be familiar with adult education principles. Must be able to utilize an empowering, participative style along with the ability to listen and consider views of others.
Must possess a demonstrated ability to educate others on the integration of reflection into ordinary dynamics of decision-making and the value of on-going formation.
Must be able to operate effectively in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
Must possess a personal presence which is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health. Effectively demonstrates Trinity Health’s executive competencies.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work priorities and be able to prioritize and balance the requirements of working with the System Office and Regional Health Ministries (RHMs).
Must work from and be located in the Livonia System Office (Livonia, MI).
Must be able to travel to the various Trinity Health sites as needed.
