St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, an award winning and nationally recognized community of over 5000 households, is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to be our Director of Formation. The Director, in collaboration with the Director of High School and Young Adult Formation, holds the vision for a comprehensive catechetical formation program serving pre-school through adult parishioners, which includes sacramental preparation for Baptism, Confirmation, First Eucharist, and First Reconciliation. The Director supervises the formation team in support of these efforts. The Director also oversees the year-round RCIA process for both adults and children of catechetical age in collaboration with staff and a team of volunteers.
Required Education and Experience
- Active, fully initiated, practicing Catholic in good standing
- A Master degree in theology, pastoral studies, religious education, or a related field
- A minimum of five years in a parish or diocesan faith formation position or commensurate position
- A minimum of three years experience in a supervisory position
- Strong knowledge of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and experience in implementing a year-round adult and children of catechetical age initiation process
- Knowledge and experience of effective adult faith formation with a demonstration of best practices
Required Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Catholic doctrine and beliefs as presented in the documents of the Second Vatican Council, The Catechism of the Catholic Church, and other relevant Church and catechetical documents. Dedication to the advancement of a vision of the Church as promoted by the Second Vatican Council.
- Experience in program administration, practical evangelization processes, catechetical leadership, and instruction at various levels, and integrating modern instructional technologies in the field of catechesis.
- Strong relational and pastoral skill set and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in basic data management, project planning, time management, and interpreting reports.
- Ability to create and interpret ministry budgets
- Computer literacy and experience with MS Office
