As part of the Church Engagement team the Clergy Outreach Advisor position plays an essential role in ensuring our work with seminarians and clergy is bolstering CRS’ mission. The Clergy Outreach Advisor will have a key role in the further development and implementation of the Seminary Outreach program and efforts to engage clergy as it relates to CRS’ strategy of mobilizing Catholics and building a movement of passionate individuals across the U.S. who will take action to advance CRS work and vision of integral human development for all.

Job Summary

The Clergy Outreach Advisor is a non-supervisory, independent contributor role collaborating closely with Clergy Manager and other staff within Mission and Mobilization. Primary responsibility of the Clergy Outreach Advisor is to implement the strategy for integrating CRS campaigns into the formation of CRS’ seminary partners. This person will also lead and coordinate external communication with our partners related to various campaigns (to include Advocacy and Fundraising), emergencies and other strategic communications. In addition, the Clergy Advisor will assist in the development and implementation of the clergy strategy as it relates to CRS’ campaigns and chapter methodology.

Roles and Key Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to:

Seminary Outreach

  • In collaboration with Mission and Mobilization staff and the Clergy Team, lead the implementation of the seminary outreach strategy which includes:
    • Reaching out to seminaries and inviting them to participate CRS’ Seminary initiative (this is done via written communication and in-person meetings).
    • Maintaining relationships with seminaries and assisting partners to take their engagement to the next level.
    • Maintaining relationships with Seminary Animators (via written communication, virtual meetings and in-person meetings).
    • Develop and Implement trainings related to CRS campaigns for staff and seminary partners (virtually and in-person).
    • Participate in CRS immersion trips related to seminary partners.
    • Incorporate feedback from seminaries for further education module development.
    • Develop supporting resources related to CRS campaigns that assist animators to integrate campaigns into the four dimensions of formation.
    • Host webinars throughout the year for seminary partners providing pertinent information and a space for best practice sharing.
    • Provide content and discussion topics for the Seminary Outreach Community
    • Assist in developing a strategy to integrate recently ordained animators into the Global Fellows program.

Global Fellows Program

  • Contribute to developing a long-term plan for program growth which benefits CRS’ mission, including growth in agency name awareness, advocacy, financial support, and expanding the opportunities for speaking engagements.
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of priests and deacons as CRS Global Fellows.
  • Provide theological supporting resources for CRS campaigns that will assist Global Fellows integrate the campaigns into their community


  • Provide theological support for the agency related to CRS attacks and other issues as necessary
  • Participate in and contribute to Church Engagement planning meetings and other staff meetings.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing
  • Master’s in Theology
  • Experience in Seminary environment
  • Familiarity with CRS and Catholic Social Teaching
  • Proficient in PC operation; MS Office programs
  • Working knowledge of webinar platforms (Zoom and MS Teams)
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Strong project management skills
  • Public speaking experience and skills
  • Flexibility with work hours as needed

Required Languages – English (native/fluent)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood and in good standing
  • Permission of Bishop/Superior to serve in this capacity

Travel – 10 %, as needed

Internal: Clergy Outreach Team, Mission and Mobilization staff, and Charitable Giving.

External: Bishops, Diocesan Directors, Priests, Deacons, Seminarians and Seminary staff.
